About Ida

Ida began in Brooklyn in 1993, when Daniel Littleton and Elizabeth Mitchell started writing and performing songs together as a duo. The band has grown and changed many times since then, but the duo at its core has remained constant. Ida released several albums and EPs on independent labels.

Daniel and Elizabeth have pursued musical projects outside of Ida. Daniel has played guitar in Amy Helm’s band since 2012, touring heavily and sharing stages with Levon Helm, Mavis Staples, Phil Lesh, Meshell Ndegeocello, Donald Fagen, and many more. Elizabeth has released several Grammy-nominated children’s music albums on Smithsonian Folkways, collaborating with Natalie Merchant, Susie Ibarra, and others. Together, they hosted the Kids Stage at the Newport Folk Festival and a series of Kids Rambles at Levon Helm Studios. The full band reunited in 2023 to play the Numero Group Festival in Los Angeles.

In 2025, Numero began reissuing Ida’s catalog on vinyl, starting with a box-set edition of their 2000 album, Will You Find Me. To promote the release, Ida went out on the road with Numero label mates Tsunami on the Coin Toss Tour, playing major cities across the us and featuring special musical guests from each community. The tour was a vibrant gathering of old friends and new, inspiring Dan and Liz to continue reconnecting with this part of their shared musical history. They are excited to revisit their beginnings as a duo and interpret their body of songs in a stripped-down acoustic setting.
